Skin Health, Explained: Which Treatment Suits Which Skin
Skin health treatment means the non-surgical, non-invasive work that improves the quality of the skin itself rather than the contours of the face: medical peels, microneedling, skin boosters, LED phototherapy and exosome delivery. Nine treatments sit in this category at the South Kensington clinic, from £85 a session. They are not interchangeable, and the difference between them is not strength but target: tone, texture, hydration, inflammation and repair are different problems.
Choosing between them from the outside is genuinely hard, because the marketing language overlaps and almost every one of them promises glow. This guide separates them by the job each actually does, with the course each needs and what it costs, so you arrive at a consultation with a sharper question. The full category, with every treatment page and the booking link, is our skin health treatments page.
Key takeaways
- Tone and radiance: peels. AlumierMD and the Jalupro Glow Peel from £250, the Fire and Ice facial from £250 for an instant, one-off glow.
- Texture, pores and scarring: medical microneedling. SkinPen from £350, or the no-needle PRX-T33 peel from £450.
- Inflammation, redness and recovery: Dermalux LED from £85 a session, often added to something else.
- Repair and calm: Target Cool exosomes from £400, alone or added to microneedling or laser.
- A pre-event glow with a short life: the Aquagold facial from £865, glowing in three to seven days.
- Most of these work as a course, not a single session.
- None of them lifts, tightens or changes the structure of a face. That is a different category.
- The choice is made at a skin consultation, from £200, redeemable against treatment.
The one distinction that matters first
Skin health treatments work on the condition of skin: its tone, texture, hydration and how calm it is. They do not work on the architecture underneath it. If what is bothering you is volume that has gone, a jawline that has softened or skin that has descended, no peel and no microneedling session will answer it, however good the treatment is. That is the job of injectables or energy devices, and the useful version of that advice is to be told so at the assessment rather than to spend a course finding out.
Within skin health, the useful way to sort the options is by target.
Tone and radiance
Peels: AlumierMD, Jalupro Glow Peel, iS Clinical Fire and Ice.
Texture and scarring
SkinPen microneedling, PRX-T33 peel.
Calm and repair
Dermalux LED, Target Cool exosomes.
Dullness, uneven tone and radiance
AlumierMD customisable peels are medical-grade peels tailored to your skin on the day, aimed at dullness, uneven tone, fine lines and congestion. From £250 a peel, often a course of three to six about four weeks apart, with little to no downtime beyond mild redness or tightness for up to around 48 hours. Many people see a brighter complexion after a single peel, with tone and texture improving across the course.
The Jalupro Glow Peel is the brightening option, from £250 a session, aimed at dullness, radiance, texture and hydration, usually a short course a few weeks apart. The glow arrives soon after, with luminosity building over the course.
The iS Clinical Fire and Ice facial is the one to know about for an event. From £250, no downtime beyond a healthy flush, immediate results that last about one skin cycle. It is a genuinely good one-off, and monthly if you want to hold the glow.
Texture, pores and scarring
SkinPen is medical microneedling: minimally invasive, aimed at texture, acne scars, neck lines and pores. From £350 a session, often a course of three to six spaced four to six weeks apart, with mild redness for around one to three days and new collagen building over the following weeks, with the clearest change from about four weeks onwards.
The PRX-T33 peel is the alternative route to some of the same ground without needles: a no-needle bio-revitalising peel from £450 a session, often a course of four to six at two to three week intervals, for dullness, fine lines, scarring and crepey skin. Brighter after one, firmer across the course. There is no week off, and light flaking for a few days is normal.
Inflammation, redness and recovery
Dermalux LED is non-invasive, pain-free phototherapy using red, blue and near-infrared light, with no downtime at all. It is aimed at acne and congestion, redness, dullness, fine lines and post-treatment recovery. From £85 a session, which is why it is the most commonly added treatment in the category: it calms the skin and supports recovery after peels, microneedling or laser. It works cumulatively, so a course of 8 to 12 is the recommendation where meaningful change is the goal, with the initial freshness filling out over around six weeks.
Target Cool exosomes is a pain-free exosome treatment for glow, repair, redness, fine lines and recovery, with mild redness for a few hours at most. From £400 as an add-on to microneedling or the Lutronic Ultra laser, and it can also be taken on its own. Results come within a few days and fill out over four to six weeks.
A glow with a deadline
The Aquagold facial is a 24-carat gold micro-infusion treatment for glow, fine lines, pores and dull or tired skin. From £865 a session, often a course of three to four about four weeks apart, with minimal downtime beyond mild redness for a few hours. The glow arrives in three to seven days and lasts around one to two months, which is the number to plan around: it is a treatment with a timeline, so book it to land before the thing you are booking it for.

Read that as a set of different questions rather than a ranking, and note how often the right answer is a pairing: a peel or microneedling to do the work, LED or exosomes to keep the skin calm while it recovers, and a medical-grade routine at home to hold the result. Every price across the clinic is published on the price list.
Why autumn is when this category gets busy
After months of sun exposure, pigmentation, uneven tone and dullness are common concerns, and the cooler, lower-UV months are the easier environment to treat them in: because skin is less exposed to UV, the risk of pigmentation change after a resurfacing treatment is significantly reduced. Daily broad-spectrum SPF stays part of the plan regardless, before and after.
What the consultation does
A skin consultation is from £200 and the fee is redeemable against any treatment. Dr Nina Bal or a member of her clinical team assess the skin, your concerns, your medical history and what you want to change, then say which treatment or combination fits and which does not. Consultations are clinical assessments rather than sales appointments: if a treatment will not help your concern, you are told so, including when the answer is simply better skincare or a different category of treatment altogether.
Book a consultation at 313 Brompton Road in South Kensington, or message the clinic on WhatsApp. The full category and every treatment page sit on our skin health treatments page.

It depends on the treatment, and the clinic states a course where a course is what works. AlumierMD peels are often three to six about four weeks apart, PRX-T33 four to six at two to three weeks, SkinPen three to six at four to six weeks, the Aquagold facial three to four at about four weeks, and Dermalux LED 8 to 12 because it works cumulatively. The Fire and Ice facial is the exception: a good one-off, monthly to maintain the glow.

Yes, and several are designed to be. Dermalux LED, from £85, is often added to another treatment to calm the skin and support recovery after peels, microneedling or laser. Target Cool exosomes, from £400, can be taken on its own or added to microneedling or the Lutronic Ultra laser. Which combination makes sense for your skin is decided at the assessment.
