Treatment summary

The Golden Ratio protocol at a glance

The Golden Ratio protocol is one of Dr Nina’s signature treatments — a tailored combination treatment guided by analysis of your facial proportions. The Golden Ratio (also known as Phi) is a mathematical proportion long linked to our perception of harmony; Dr Nina uses it as a guide, alongside her own assessment, to plan subtle changes. It works with your own features, is a guide rather than a rigid formula, and results vary from person to person.

The protocol

What is the Golden Ratio?

The Golden Ratio — also called Phi, or the Fibonacci proportion — is a mathematical relationship long associated with our perception of harmony and beauty; the Renaissance polymath Leonardo da Vinci famously explored it in art and anatomy. In facial aesthetics it is used as a guide to proportion: broadly, the closer certain facial relationships sit to this proportion, the more balanced a face tends to look. It is a guide, not a rigid rule, and individuality always matters more than any single number.

In this protocol, Dr Nina analyses your face using Golden Ratio proportions alongside her own clinical assessment — for example comparing the length and width of the face and the relationships between features — then designs a bespoke plan to gently rebalance it. That plan usually combines dermal fillers (for example to define the cheekbones or restore mid-face balance), chin and side-profile balancing, a brow lift to open the eyes, and anti-wrinkle injections where helpful.

Because ageing tends to expand some facial measurements and the face loses volume and elasticity over time, even previously balanced faces can drift from these proportions — which is part of what the protocol can address. The Golden Ratio is one of several Dr Nina signature protocols; it overlaps closely with asymmetry correction and Face Shape Sculpting.

What it can help

What the Golden Ratio protocol can address

The Golden Ratio protocol is designed to harmonise overall facial proportion and balance using a bespoke combination plan.

Honest suitability

Is the Golden Ratio protocol right for you?

The Golden Ratio protocol is not for everyone — and we will tell you honestly if it is not the best option for you. Final suitability and your exact plan are always confirmed at consultation.

Often well suited

  • Wanting subtle, overall improvement in facial balance
  • Features that feel a little out of proportion with each other
  • Visible asymmetry such as uneven brows or cheeks
  • Age-related volume loss that has shifted your proportions
  • Happy with a bespoke plan that may use more than one treatment
  • Realistic expectations that harmony, not perfection, is the aim

May not be suitable

  • Wanting to match a celebrity or filtered image exactly
  • Proportion concerns that are largely skeletal and may need surgery
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding (subject to clinic policy)
  • Active infection or skin condition in the treatment area
  • Certain medical conditions identified at consultation
  • Body-image concerns better supported by other professionals

The approach

How the Golden Ratio protocol works, step by step

  1. Analysis & consultationDr Nina analyses your facial proportions using the Golden Ratio as a guide alongside her own clinical assessment, discusses your goals and confirms whether the protocol is suitable or whether another option is better.
  2. Your bespoke planDr Nina designs a personalised combination — which may include fillers, chin and side-profile balancing, a brow lift or anti-wrinkle injections — and explains the sequence, downtime and a written price.
  3. Treatment beginsYour chosen treatments are carried out comfortably in clinic, with topical numbing where injectables are used. Harmonisation is often staged so balance can be built gradually.
  4. Settling & buildingSome changes are visible quickly; others settle over the following weeks as the tissues respond and any swelling resolves.
  5. Review & refinementYour result is reviewed and fine-tuned where needed, and a sensible maintenance plan is discussed so your proportions stay balanced over time.

“The Golden Ratio is a guide, not a goal in itself — a way to plan subtle balance, while keeping everything that makes your face yours.”

Before treatment

What happens at your consultation

A consultation is required before any Golden Ratio plan, because the treatment is entirely bespoke and begins with analysis. During your initial consultation with Dr Nina and her team you will have a proportional assessment of your face alongside a clinical review, and your suitability for treatment confirmed. You will be talked through what the analysis shows, the proposed plan in detail, and given the opportunity to ask questions.

The consultation covers your medical history, a facial-anatomy and proportion assessment, your suitability and any contraindications, realistic expected outcomes, alternatives if the protocol is not ideal, aftercare, and confirmation of your individual plan and price in writing before anything is booked.

Results & recovery

What to expect afterwards

Because the Golden Ratio protocol is a bespoke combination, downtime depends entirely on the treatments in your plan. Injectable elements may cause temporary swelling, tenderness or small bruises that usually settle within a few days, and harmonisation is often staged so it can be assessed and refined. Dr Nina explains the expected downtime for your specific plan before you proceed, and you receive tailored aftercare guidance.

Results & longevity: some improvement in balance can be seen soon after treatment, while subtler refinements settle over the following weeks. Results are not permanent — injectables are gradually metabolised and the face continues to age — so maintenance is usually advised. Outcomes vary with anatomy, lifestyle and the changes made.

Typical results timeline

First days

Any swelling, tenderness or minor bruising from injectable elements begins to settle.

Weeks 1–2

Anti-wrinkle and brow elements take full effect; the eyes and upper face look more open.

Weeks 2–4

Volume-balancing changes settle as swelling resolves; proportions look their most natural.

Beyond

Results last months depending on the treatments used; a review and maintenance are discussed.

Safety

Possible risks & side effects

As with any medical aesthetic treatment, this protocol carries some risks, which depend on the specific components used. Injectable elements may cause temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness or, rarely, lumps or asymmetry that can be addressed. Because the goal is balance, occasional fine-tuning is sometimes part of the plan. Less common risks are discussed individually at consultation, and Dr Nina will only proceed when she believes treatment is appropriate for you.

Careful, honest goal-setting matters here: the Golden Ratio is a guide, and chasing a perfect number or a filtered ideal can look unnatural. Dr Nina will steer toward results that suit your individual face. If anything is unexpected after treatment, you can contact the clinic for advice.

Honest limitations

What the Golden Ratio protocol can and cannot do

  • It cannot make a face mathematically perfect — the ratio is a guide, not a target.
  • It cannot change underlying bone structure or correct largely skeletal imbalance.
  • It does not deliver a single, permanent result — maintenance is usually needed.
  • It is not designed to replicate a specific celebrity or filtered appearance.

Transparent pricing

How much does the Golden Ratio protocol cost?

The Golden Ratio protocol is priced on application, because every plan is built around your face — your exact cost is confirmed in writing after consultation.

Bespoke Golden Ratio plan

Price on application

The Golden Ratio protocol is a tailored combination treatment, so it does not have a single fixed price (the original page lists it as POA — price on application). The cost depends on which treatments make up your personalised plan — for example dermal fillers, chin or brow balancing and anti-wrinkle injections — and how much of each is needed. Dr Nina confirms your plan and its full price in writing after your consultation (from £200), with no obligation to proceed.

Patient review
"I am so thrilled with the results from my recent procedures with Dr. Nina. Initially I was prescribed a bespoke skin care plan using medical grade products from which I began to see immediate results. On Dr Nina’s advice I then returned for Botox, Profhilo and Endolift. She has such a wonderful Calm, friendly and reassuring nature that makes you feel completely at ease. The procedures were painless which is a definite credit to her skill and expertise. The results have been amazing..... I love the even texture and glow my (Menopausal) skin now has. My saggy jawline has disappeared leaving a firmer, leaner profile. Just wonderful... I can’t recommend Dr Nina and her Team highly enough."

Your questions

The Golden Ratio: your questions answered

What is the Golden Ratio in facial aesthetics?

The Golden Ratio — also called Phi or the Fibonacci proportion — is a mathematical relationship long associated with our perception of harmony and beauty. In facial aesthetics it is used as a guide to proportion: broadly, faces whose relationships sit closer to this proportion tend to look balanced. It is a guide, not a rigid rule.

What is the Golden Ratio treatment at Facial Sculpting?

It is one of Dr Nina Bal’s signature protocols — a bespoke, doctor-led plan that analyses your facial proportions using the Golden Ratio alongside her clinical assessment, then uses a personalised combination of non-surgical treatments to gently rebalance the face. It is a tailored plan rather than a single product.

How does Dr Nina use the Golden Ratio?

Dr Nina measures and compares facial relationships — for example the length and width of the face and the proportions between features — using the Golden Ratio as a reference point alongside her own assessment. From this she identifies where subtle change could improve balance, then designs a bespoke plan. The analysis guides the plan; it never dictates it.

What treatments does the Golden Ratio protocol combine?

It is tailored to your analysis, but a plan often combines dermal fillers to define the cheekbones or restore balance, chin and side-profile balancing, a brow lift to open the eyes, and anti-wrinkle injections where helpful. The exact combination is decided after Dr Nina has analysed your face.

Why is the price on application (POA)?

Because the protocol is fully bespoke and begins with analysis, there is no single fixed price — the cost depends on which treatments make up your individual plan and how much of each is needed. Dr Nina confirms your personalised plan and its full price in writing after your consultation (from £200), with no obligation to proceed.

How much does the Golden Ratio treatment cost in London?

It is quoted on application rather than as a set fee, because every plan is different. Your exact cost is built up from the specific treatments in your plan and confirmed in writing after a consultation, which starts from £200. You are never charged for treatments you do not need.

Can my face be made to match the Golden Ratio exactly?

No, and that is not the aim. The Golden Ratio is a guide, and chasing a perfect number can look unnatural. Dr Nina uses it to plan subtle, balanced improvements that suit your individual face, while keeping it recognisably you. She will be honest about what is realistically achievable.

Does the Golden Ratio change with age?

In a sense, yes. Some facial measurements tend to expand with age, and the face loses volume and elasticity over time, so even previously balanced faces can drift from these proportions. Part of what this protocol can address is gently restoring proportion that ageing has shifted.

How is this different from asymmetry correction?

They overlap closely. The Golden Ratio protocol looks at overall facial proportion and harmony, while the Asymmetrical Face protocol focuses specifically on evening out left-to-right imbalance. Dr Nina often uses elements of both together and will explain which emphasis suits your concern.

How is this different from Face Shape Sculpting?

Face Shape Sculpting focuses on the outline of the face — more sculpted cheekbones and a sharper jawline — while the Golden Ratio protocol considers the proportions of the whole face, including the brows, mid-face and chin. The two are complementary and often planned together.

How long do the results last?

It depends on the treatments used. Filler-based balancing typically lasts several months to longer, while anti-wrinkle and brow elements usually last a few months. Results are not permanent because injectables are gradually metabolised and the face continues to age, so a maintenance plan is usually advised.

When will I see results?

Volume-balancing changes from fillers can be visible quickly once initial swelling settles, while anti-wrinkle and brow elements take effect over one to two weeks. The final, settled result is usually seen within a few weeks. Individual results vary.

Is there much downtime?

Downtime depends on your plan. Injectable elements may cause temporary swelling, tenderness or small bruises for a few days. Dr Nina explains the expected recovery for your specific plan at consultation so you can schedule treatment around your commitments.

Is the Golden Ratio protocol safe?

It uses established, regulated treatments delivered by a doctor-led team. As with any medical aesthetic treatment, careful assessment, accurate planning and practitioner experience are central to safety. Possible side effects depend on the components used and are discussed in full at consultation, where Dr Nina will only proceed if she believes the plan is appropriate for you.

Is a consultation required first?

Yes — it is essential, because the protocol is bespoke and begins with proportional analysis. The consultation lets Dr Nina analyse your face, confirm whether the treatment is suitable, design your personalised plan and agree the price in writing before anything is booked.
