Treatment summary

Brow Lift at a glance

A botulinum (chemical) brow lift uses small, carefully placed doses of botulinum toxin to relax the muscles that pull the brow down, allowing the muscles that lift it to gently raise and open the brow. It is designed for a subtle elevation and a more refreshed, less heavy look around the eyes — not the dramatic change of a surgical brow lift — and results vary from person to person.

What it treats
Heavy, low or asymmetric brows, hooding and a tired-looking eye area
How it works
Botulinum toxin relaxes the brow-depressor muscles so the brow lifts slightly
Areas
Tail of the brow, between the brows and the upper-eye region
Anaesthetic
None usually needed — very fine needles
Onset
Begins around 3–14 days; settled by about two weeks
Downtime
Minimal — most return to normal activities the same day
Results & longevity
Typically last around 3–4 months; maintenance keeps the effect

The treatment

What is a non-surgical brow lift?

The brow and eyes are a central focal point of the face, and as we age the brow can drop and flatten, leading to hooding, heaviness and a tired or stern expression. A non-surgical brow lift uses botulinum toxin to address this without surgery. The brow position is a balance between the muscles that pull it down and those that lift it; by relaxing the depressor muscles at the tail of the brow and between the brows, the lifting muscles are able to win that balance and gently raise and open the brow.

The focus is on minor, well-judged adjustments — opening up the eye area, improving symmetry and creating a more rested look — rather than overcorrection. The change is intentionally subtle: a few millimetres of lift and a more awake appearance, while you keep natural movement. Because the effect depends on relaxing very specific muscles, accurate placement and an understanding of your individual brow anatomy matter a great deal, which is why a botulinum toxin brow lift is a prescription medicine carried out only after a consultation and assessment.

A brow lift is closely related to anti-wrinkle injections and is often planned alongside them — see the honest limitations below for where a different route, including surgery, may suit your concern better.

Concerns it can help

What does Brow Lift address?

A non-surgical brow lift is designed to gently lift and open the eye area for a refreshed, less heavy look.

Honest suitability

Is Brow Lift right for you?

A non-surgical brow lift is not for everyone — and we will tell you if it is not the best option for you. Final suitability is always confirmed at consultation.

Often well suited

  • A slightly heavy, low or flat brow you would like gently lifted
  • Mild hooding making the eyes look tired
  • Minor brow asymmetry you would like balanced
  • Wanting a subtle, non-surgical refresh with minimal downtime
  • Happy with a result that is maintained every few months
  • Realistic expectations of a small, natural-looking lift

May not be suitable

  • Significant brow descent or excess upper-eyelid skin needing surgery
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding (not recommended)
  • Certain neuromuscular conditions (e.g. myasthenia gravis)
  • Known allergy to botulinum toxin or its ingredients
  • Active infection or skin condition in the treatment area
  • Expecting the dramatic change of a surgical brow lift

The process

How a non-surgical brow lift works, step by step

  1. Consultation & assessmentDr Nina or the team assess your brow position, movement, symmetry, medical history and goals, and confirm whether a non-surgical brow lift is suitable or whether another option is better.
  2. Cleanse & mappingThe skin is cleansed and the precise injection points are mapped to your individual brow and muscle pattern.
  3. The injectionsA few tiny injections are placed to relax the brow-depressor muscles using very fine needles — most people find this quick and comfortable.
  4. Straight back to your dayThe appointment takes only a few minutes and there is minimal downtime — you can usually return to normal activities the same day.
  5. Review & maintenanceThe lift develops over up to two weeks; a review can be arranged, with maintenance typically every three to four months.

“A less-is-more philosophy: a few millimetres of lift, never overdone — for eyes that simply look more rested.”

Before treatment

What happens at your consultation

A consultation is required before a non-surgical brow lift, because botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine. During your initial consultation with Dr Nina and her team you will have a clinical assessment, your brow position and symmetry reviewed, and your goals discussed. You will be talked through the procedure in detail — what to expect during and after — and given the opportunity to ask questions.

The consultation covers your medical history, an assessment of your brow and eye area, your suitability and any contraindications, realistic expected outcomes, alternatives if a botulinum brow lift is not ideal (including a surgical opinion where appropriate), aftercare, and confirmation of your individual plan and price.

Results & recovery

What to expect afterwards

A non-surgical brow lift involves minimal downtime and very little aftercare — most people return to their normal day straight away. A small bruise, slight redness or pinpoint swelling at an injection site can occur and usually settles quickly. We advise staying upright, avoiding heavy exercise, facials and rubbing the area for the rest of the day, and your team will give you tailored aftercare.

Results & longevity: the lift is not immediate — it begins around three to fourteen days after treatment and settles by about two weeks. Results typically last around three to four months, after which movement gradually returns and maintenance appointments keep the effect. Onset and duration vary with the dose, the muscles treated and your individual metabolism.

Typical results timeline

Day of treatment

A few tiny injections; any pinpoint redness or small bruise usually fades quickly.

Days 3–14

The brow-depressor muscles relax and the brow gradually lifts and opens.

~2 weeks

The lift has settled; a review or fine adjustment can be arranged if needed.

~3–4 months

Movement gradually returns; a maintenance appointment keeps the effect.

Safety

Possible risks & side effects

A botulinum toxin brow lift is generally well tolerated, and side effects are usually minor and temporary — a small bruise, slight swelling or redness, or a short-lived mild headache. Because the result depends on relaxing very specific muscles, an unbalanced placement can occasionally cause temporary brow or eyelid heaviness or slight asymmetry; this is uncommon, settles as the effect wears off, and is minimised by accurate, anatomy-led injection.

Botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine that should only be given after assessment by a qualified practitioner. Careful patient selection and precise technique are central to a safe, natural result, and Dr Nina will discuss less common risks in full at your consultation. If anything is unexpected after treatment, you can contact the clinic for advice.

Honest limitations

What a brow lift can and cannot do

  • It gives a subtle lift only — it cannot match a surgical brow lift.
  • It cannot remove significant excess upper-eyelid skin (hooding) that needs surgery.
  • It is not permanent — the effect wears off and maintenance is needed every few months.
  • It is not suitable in pregnancy, breastfeeding or certain neuromuscular conditions.

"Dr. Nina got my Botox perfectly right on the first visit. I have seen many injecting doctors over the years, I have tricky uneven brows - one is higher than the other and I normally like to balance and lift them slightly. It’s a difficult job for many doctors. The results of treatment with Dr. Nina are just what I was looking for, if not better than expected and I didn’t even need the top up/ correction appointment! I got so many compliments on how well and fresh I look!! So happy with the results, Dr. Nina certainly knows how to do a good Botox"

I have been seeing Dr Nina now for a couple of years and there is nobody else I would trust with my face. I initially saw someone else and had no effect with the anti wrinkle treatments and was told they didn’t work for me. I was really conscious of a deep forehead wrinkle that I had. I then tried Dr Nina and it disappeared after the first treatment. Have been coming back since, always such a pleasant experience.

Your questions

Brow lift: your questions answered

What is a non-surgical brow lift?

A non-surgical brow lift uses small, carefully placed doses of botulinum toxin to relax the muscles that pull the brow down. With those muscles relaxed, the muscles that lift the brow can gently raise and open it, giving a subtle, more rested look around the eyes without surgery. It is a prescription medicine given only after consultation.

How does a botulinum brow lift work?

Brow position is a balance between depressor muscles (which pull the brow down) and elevator muscles (which lift it). By relaxing the depressors at the tail of the brow and between the brows, the elevators are able to lift the brow a little higher. The result is a few millimetres of lift and a more open eye area.

How much lift can I expect?

The change is intentionally subtle — typically a few millimetres of elevation and a fresher, less heavy look, rather than a dramatic change. A botulinum brow lift is best for mild heaviness or asymmetry; it is not designed to replicate the result of a surgical brow lift. Dr Nina will be honest about what is realistic for your brow.

Does a brow lift hurt?

Most people find it quick and easily tolerated. Very fine needles are used and the injections feel like brief, small pinpricks; anaesthetic is not usually needed. The whole appointment typically takes only a few minutes.

How long until I see the lift?

The lift is not instant. It usually begins around three to fourteen days after treatment and settles by about two weeks. We often arrange a review at the two-week point so any fine adjustment can be made for balance.

How long does a brow lift last?

On average the effect lasts around three to four months, depending on the dose, your metabolism and the strength of the muscles treated. After this, movement gradually returns and most people have a maintenance appointment every few months to keep the lift.

Will my brows look unnatural or surprised?

Not when treated carefully. The aim is a subtle, balanced lift that suits your face — never an over-arched or surprised look. Accurate, anatomy-led placement and measured doses are what keep the result natural, and we deliberately avoid overcorrection.

Can a brow lift fix hooded eyes?

It can help mild hooding by lifting the brow slightly and opening the upper-eye area. However, where hooding is caused by significant excess upper-eyelid skin, a botulinum brow lift cannot remove that skin and a surgical opinion may be more appropriate. Dr Nina will tell you honestly which applies to you.

Can a brow lift correct asymmetry?

Minor brow asymmetry can often be improved by adjusting the dose and placement on each side to balance the brows. More pronounced asymmetry, particularly if related to underlying anatomy or previous surgery, may only be partially improved. This is assessed carefully at consultation.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime is minimal and aftercare is simple — most people return to their normal day straight away. A small bruise or pinpoint redness can occur at an injection site and settles quickly. We advise avoiding heavy exercise, facials and rubbing the area for the rest of the day.

Is a non-surgical brow lift safe?

Botulinum toxin has been used safely in aesthetic medicine for many years and is generally well tolerated. As a prescription medicine, it should only be given after assessment by a qualified practitioner. Precise technique matters here, because the result depends on relaxing very specific muscles, and Dr Nina will discuss any less common risks at your consultation.

What are the possible side effects?

Side effects are usually minor and temporary: a small bruise, slight swelling or redness, or a short-lived mild headache. Less commonly, an unbalanced placement can cause temporary brow or eyelid heaviness or slight asymmetry, which settles as the effect wears off. Careful technique minimises this.

Can a brow lift be combined with anti-wrinkle injections?

Yes — very often. A botulinum brow lift and anti-wrinkle injections to the frown and forehead are frequently planned together, because treating the brow without addressing the forehead can affect the balance. Dr Nina will plan the doses across both areas so the result is lifted and refreshed at the same time.

How much does a brow lift cost in London?

A non-surgical brow lift at Facial Sculpting is from £600. The exact plan, including whether it is combined with anti-wrinkle injections, is confirmed at your consultation.

Is a consultation required before a brow lift?

Yes. Because botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine, a consultation and assessment are required to review your brow position, symmetry and medical history, confirm suitability, discuss realistic outcomes and alternatives, and agree your individual plan and price.
