SheerLuxe has interviewed Dr Nina Bal for "The K-Beauty Treatment You Need To Know About", a feature by Rebecca Hull published on 5 October 2026 on XERF, the radiofrequency device from Korea that is the newest addition to the energy based treatments at Facial Sculpting. SheerLuxe introduces Dr Nina as one of the first doctors in the UK to offer it.
The piece walks readers through the treatment from first principles: what XERF is, why it has built such a following, what it achieves, who it suits, what it feels like, how long it takes and why it has been dubbed a "non-surgical facelift".
On why she brought it into the clinic, Dr Nina tells SheerLuxe:
"I don't invest in technology just because it is new. Anything I introduce has to offer something useful to my patients."
What XERF is designed to do
XERF delivers radiofrequency at more than one frequency, so heat reaches the shallow, middle and deep layers of the skin in the same session. In Dr Nina's words:
"The goal of XERF is to produce firmer, more supported and more sculpted facial contours. Immediately after the treatment, the controlled heating will cause existing collagen fibres to contract, so patients will often feel and see an immediate tightening effect, particularly around areas like the jawline and lower face. But that's only the beginning of the response. XERF also stimulates new collagen production and remodelling of the skin, so the results continue to develop progressively over the following three months as the tissue becomes firmer and more supported. You won't leave looking like a different person, instead you will look fresher, tighter and more sculpted. It works well to improve skin laxity and definition, while also preserving your natural volume."
The feature also covers the practical side. A full face takes around 45 minutes, and closer to an hour when the neck is included. After the initial result, Dr Nina explains that "maintenance may then be appropriate once or twice a year." At Facial Sculpting, XERF is £2,600 for the face and £3,000 for the face and neck.
Why it matters for patients considering a lift without surgery
Loss of firmness along the jawline and lower face is one of the most common reasons patients come to the clinic, and it is rarely a volume problem. Adding filler to skin that has lost its support tends to make a face heavier, not lifted. XERF works on the support itself, which is why it suits patients who want definition back without changing their features.
It is one of several energy based options for laxity at the clinic, alongside Endolift, HIFU, EMFACE and InMode Contoura, and the right one depends on where the laxity sits and how much recovery time a patient has. Dr Nina sets out the differences in the Journal guide to advanced laser and radio frequency, and the full treatment details, results and pricing are on the XERF treatment page. If firmness is your main concern, the sagging skin guide is a good place to start.
