Nose Thread Lift
The nose is the most defining feature of the face and its shape has a drastic impact on your whole facial appearance. Are you unhappy with the shape of your nose but want to avoid invasive surgical procedures such as rhinoplasty?
At Facial Sculpting, we can now help you achieve your dream nose in less than an hour and without the need of invasive surgical procedures.
There are two options we can use to correct the appearance of your nose non-surgically: nose thread lift and nose fillers. Although undergoing either procedure can effectively augment the nose, Dr Nina might decide to perform a combination treatment depending on the patient’s desired results that will be discussed thoroughly during the first consultation.
Generally speaking, nose threads are more effective at creating a sharper nose tip, a more definite lift and a sharper, more defined contour than fillers. They are most popular among our Asian clients.
What is Nose Thread Lift
Non-invasive, reversible and with more predictable results, the nose thread lift is a win-win treatment for people seeking non-surgical alternatives to rhinoplasty.
One of the main advantages of getting a nose thread lift done over a rhinoplasty is that a nose thread lift is a minimally invasive non-surgical procedure. This means there will not be any cutting or surgery involved.
Non-surgical nose thread lift uses dissolvable threads made of a complex sugar called PDO (polydioxanone), which has been used in biomedical and pharmaceutical applications for many years because of its extremely safe profile.
This material is non-allergic and non-antigenic, and is also completely biodegradable, meaning the body completely absorbs the PDO material over time.
How does the procedure work
Also known as a ‘lunchtime nose job’, the nose thread lift is a treatment that can be completed in under an hour. Because of the minimal downtime, patients can resume their daily activities immediately after.
On the day of the procedure, Dr Nina will have you lie down with your face tilted up. You may have a topical anaesthetic applied to your nose and the surrounding area, so you will not feel any pain or discomfort.
Dr Nina will proceed to place fine threads horizontally along the nasal bridge for the height and the septum to give projection to the nose, and vertically into the nose tip. The threads act both as a scaffolding structure, helping contour and shape the nose to the desired state, and as a collagen stimulator, encouraging the formation of new collagen to provide sustainable and long-lasting lift for the nose.
The number of threads required varies according to individuals, their current nose shape, and the desired outcome. Results are immediately visible as the threads provide the scaffold for the nose.
Preparing for the procedure
Dr Nina will give you detailed instructions on what to do before a non-surgical nose job during the initial consultation. However, these are a few broad guidelines to follow before undergoing any procedures involving fillers:
- Avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory medication (such as ibuprofen), vitamin E supplements, and any other blood-thinning supplements in the week before the procedure.
- Vitamin K helps reduce the risk of bruising, so try to eat lots of green, leafy vegetables to boost your vitamin K in the weeks before your procedure.
- Drink plenty of water and eat a proper meal before your appointment.
Key benefits of Nose Thread Lift Treatment
Key benefits of the nose thread lift procedure include:
- Results aren’t permanent, so if you’re not pleased with how it looks, it’s just a matter of time before the threads dissolve naturally in your body within 6-8 months
- Convenience: nose thread lift is much less expensive than a traditional rhinoplasty
- Very safe and effective
- Immediate visible results
- No downtime
- Patients can resume work and normal activities almost immediately
- No anaesthesia needed
Results of Nose Thread Lift Treatment
Results from a nose thread lift treatment can be seen instantly and will continue to improve over time as your body starts to regenerate more collagen for the next 3-6 months, up to one year.
Usually results last for about 1-2 years. If the treatment is repeated 9 months after the initial treatment, you can expect the result to be even longer lasting. Finally, with stimulation of collagen in the nose, some permanent lifting can be expected.
Side Effects and Contraindications
You may feel some slight stinging during the anaesthesia injections, but afterwards you should not feel any pain from the threads. Immediately after the threads are placed, you will feel some tightness in the treatment areas and may have some soreness for a few days. Over the counter, analgesic can be taken as needed for post-op comfort.
The nose thread lift is a very safe procedure, with no serious side effects. Mild bruising, swelling and tenderness are expected after the procedure, which will resolve within a few days to couple weeks.
