Dr Nina Bal Introduces Sciton’s BBL HEROicTM for Speedy Skin Rejuvenation

Aesthetic practitioner Dr Nina Bal has added Sciton’s BBL HEROic™ to her clinic’s treatment menu. Dubbed the “Ferrari” of intense pulsed light treatments (IPL), this fast-acting phototherapy device targets multiple skin concerns in a single session – no wonder it’s a favourite of Victoria Beckham, Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian.

BBL stands for BroadBand Light and HEROic™ stands for High-Energy Rapid Output with Intelligent Control. This next-generation IPL can address everything from pigmentation and redness to fine lines, acne scarring and skin laxity on both the face and body.

How it works

A handpiece delivers broad-spectrum pulsed light across the skin. The energy is absorbed by darker pigments and haemoglobin as it gently breaks down pigmented cells and superficial blood vessels that cause redness and flushing. At the same time, the treatment stimulates the fibroblasts to increase collagen and elastin production, leaving skin smoother and firmer.

The FDA-approved device fires up to 10-11 pulses per second, which is far faster than traditional systems. Its Intelligent Control™ technology tracks the handpiece’s movement and automatically adjusts to the contours of the face or body to ensure no areas are missed. Comfort is a priority. The handpiece is fitted with a sapphire cooling tip that keeps the treatment comfortable throughout.

Sessions last between 30-60 minutes depending on the treatment area and downtime is minimal, making it an ideal lunchtime tweakment. For optimal results, three treatments spaced about a month apart are recommended, with annual maintenance sessions to sustain improvements.

When to expect results

Results appear quickly – brown spots can temporarily darken and flake off within a few days. More noticeable improvements on the face appear within three to four weeks and on the body within three to five weeks.

Who is it for?

BBL HEROic™ is recommended for anyone aged 18 and over looking to improve skin tone and texture on the face or body. It effectively treats pigmentation, rosacea, acne and redness. Thanks to its adjustable filters and energy control, it is suitable for most skin types.

“HEROic is a fantastic addition to my clinic. It’s fast, effective and can treat a range of skin concerns like sun damage and redness to fine lines and acne scarring – all in a single treatment. My patients notice smoother, firmer and more radiant skin, plus the treatment is very comfortable and there’s minimal downtime, so it fits easily into their busy lives.”
