She is absolutely amazing so gentle and so kind she is so experienced in her field and knows whats best for you without trying to oversell you rather only whats needed. I was looking for this treatment for my double chin and picked the best place for it! it was a very comfortable treatment took about 30 mins. It permanently dissolves the fat there and tightens the area. She always checked on me to make sure im feeling ok. Its a week now and i can slowly see a difference im a little swollen and sore but the swelling is not noticeable to anyone. Cant wait for full results. Thank you Dr Nina."

The treatment
What is Chin Sculpting?
Chin sculpting with dermal filler is a non-surgical option for patients who want to correct a weak, small or slightly irregular chin without going under the knife. We inject cross-linked hyaluronic-acid (HA) filler onto the chin to improve projection, add volume or length, and refine definition. Because the chin is a key anchor of the profile, the right placement can rebalance the whole lower face and improve the relationship between the chin, lips and nose.
A chin can look under-projected for several reasons — an orthodontic background such as a small or set-back jaw, the bone and soft-tissue changes of ageing, or a hyperactive chin muscle that bunches the skin. By restoring projection and balance, chin filler can strengthen a soft side profile, sharpen the chin–jawline transition and reduce the impression of a “double chin” caused by a recessed chin. Dr Nina’s approach is less is more: a refined, balanced profile rather than an obviously augmented one.
Chin sculpting is often considered alongside other lower-face treatments — see how it works with jawline slimming, bespoke side profile sculpting and the Nefertiti lift. See the honest limitations below.
Concerns it can help
What does Chin Sculpting address?
Chin sculpting is designed for projection, definition and profile balance of the lower face.
Honest suitability
Is Chin Sculpting right for you?
Chin filler is not for everyone — and we will tell you if it is not the best option for you. Final suitability is always confirmed at consultation.
Often well suited
- A naturally weak, small or under-projected chin
- A side profile you would like better balanced
- Loss of lower-face definition with age
- Wanting to improve the chin–jawline transition non-surgically
- Realistic expectations of a refined, natural result
- Happy for a top-up to fine-tune if needed
May not be suitable
- A significant skeletal discrepancy better assessed by a maxillofacial surgeon
- Active skin infection or inflammation in the area
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding (subject to clinic policy)
- A history of severe allergy or certain autoimmune conditions
- A very hyperactive chin muscle that may also need muscle-relaxing treatment
- Unrealistic expectations or wanting a dramatic, surgical-level change
The process
How Chin Sculpting works, step by step
- Consultation & assessmentDr Nina or the team assess your chin, profile and facial proportions, review your medical history and goals, and confirm whether chin filler is suitable or whether another option is better.
- Plan the profileYour chin is assessed in relation to your lips, nose and jaw; injection points are planned to add projection or definition where the profile needs it.
- ComfortThe skin is cleansed and topical numbing can be applied; most HA fillers also contain local anaesthetic for comfort.
- Precise placementHA filler is placed with a needle or cannula onto the chin and gently moulded to refine projection, length or width.
- Review & aftercareYou see an immediate change, receive aftercare advice, and the full result is best judged once any swelling settles over a few weeks.
“A less-is-more philosophy: chin filler to balance your profile — refined and natural, never overdone.”
The Facial Sculpting approach · Dr Nina BalBefore treatment
What happens at your consultation
A consultation is recommended before chin sculpting. During your initial consultation with Dr Nina and her team you will have a facial-anatomy and profile assessment, your medical history reviewed and your suitability confirmed. You will be talked through the procedure in detail — what to expect during and after — and given the opportunity to ask questions.
The consultation covers your goals, an assessment of the chin in proportion to the whole face, realistic expected outcomes, alternatives if filler is not ideal (including surgical referral for significant skeletal concerns), the possibility of dissolving with hyalase, aftercare, and confirmation of your individual plan and price.
Results & recovery
What to expect afterwards
Chin sculpting involves minimal downtime, and most patients return to normal activities the same day. Swelling is common in the first day or two and a little bruising or tenderness is possible; bruising usually fades within one to two weeks. It can take around four weeks to see the fully settled result as the filler integrates. Your team provides tailored aftercare advice.
Results & longevity: the change in projection is visible immediately, with the final look best judged at a few weeks. Chin filler is not permanent — the body gradually breaks it down. The chin is a relatively stable, less mobile area, so results often last around 12–18 months before a top-up is needed. Duration varies with the product used, your metabolism and lifestyle.
Typical results timeline
Immediate improvement in projection and definition; some swelling is normal.
Any swelling and bruising settle; the profile begins to look natural.
Filler has integrated; this is the point to judge the final result.
Projection gradually fades; a top-up refreshes and maintains the look.
Safety
Possible risks & side effects
As with any dermal filler, chin filler carries some risks. Common, temporary effects include swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness and small lumps that usually settle as the filler integrates. Less common risks — such as infection, asymmetry, or filler that needs adjusting — are reduced by careful technique and discussed individually at consultation.
A rare but serious risk of any facial filler is accidental injection into a blood vessel (vascular occlusion), which is why a medically trained injector with sound anatomical knowledge and a clinic that stocks hyalase matter. HA chin filler is reversible and can be dissolved if you are unhappy or in the event of a complication. If anything is unexpected after treatment, contact the clinic for advice.
Honest limitations
What Chin Sculpting cannot do
- It adds projection and definition — it cannot reshape the underlying jawbone.
- A significant skeletal discrepancy may need surgical (orthognathic) assessment instead.
- It cannot tighten significantly loose neck or jowl skin on its own.
- It is temporary — maintenance is needed to keep the result.

| Approach | Best for | Invasiveness | Downtime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chin filler (HA) | Improving chin projection & profile balance | Minimally invasive injectable | Minimal |
| Side Profile Sculpting | A bespoke plan balancing chin, jaw, nose & lips | Minimally invasive injectable plan | Minimal |
| Jawline Slimming | Softening a wide or clenching jaw (muscle-relaxing) | Minimally invasive injectable | Minimal |
| The Nefertiti Lift | Lifting and defining a softening jawline & neck | Minimally invasive injectable | Minimal |
| Endolift® | Tightening early-to-moderate lower-face laxity & under-chin | Minimally invasive laser | Minimal |
| Orthognathic surgery | Significant skeletal jaw/chin discrepancy | Surgical, general anaesthetic | Several weeks |
Chin filler is often one element of a balanced profile — combined with jawline slimming or planned as part of side profile sculpting. The right approach is discussed honestly at consultation.

What our patients say about Facial Sculpting Clinic
Real reviews from patients who chose Dr Nina Bal and the Facial Sculpting team.
I have never had laser treatment before but having just turned 47, I have started to notice ageing on my face and neck. I was feeling self conscious about the sagginess in my neck and the lines around my lips and chin, I didn’t want harsh surgery, so I decided to try Endolift, a non evasive treatment, with Dr Nina Bal. I cannot recommend Dr Nina, Endolift and her clinic enough. From the moment I entered the clinic I was made to feel relaxed and welcome. Dr Nina and her team were amazing throughout, the treatment was relatively quick and pain free. It has only been a week but I can already see fantastic results, and love what the treatment has done for me. Thanks Dr Nina, I will definitely be back.
Dr. Nina got my Botox perfectly right on the first visit. I have seen many injecting doctors over the years, I have tricky uneven brows - one is higher than the other and I normally like to balance and lift them slightly. It’s a difficult job for many doctors. The results of treatment with Dr. Nina are just what I was looking for, if not better than expected and I didn’t even need the top up/ correction appointment! I got so many compliments on how well and fresh I look!! So happy with the results, Dr. Nina certainly knows how to do a good Botox
If I could leave more than five stars I would! Dr Nina’s clinic is warm and welcoming, in a beautiful location close to Knightsbridge station. I had cheek fillers for the first time and my face was numbed prior. I was expecting to find it a little uncomfortable but honestly there was barely any pain at all. The needles are so fine, and Dr Nina was very gentle. I will be back as I know I am in good hands!
Amazing results! So so happy with my facial profile balancing!
I’ve seen Dr. Nina twice now for lip augmentation, and honestly I couldn’t recommend her enough! The care she took in ensuring she knew what I wanted, as well as keeping me safe was more than any other practitioner I have been with. I have superficial blood vessels, so I am more prone to having complications, and she explained this to me and took all the necessary measures to ensure I got fabulous results while still being safe. I know that I can always contact her if anything worries me and for me that is paramount. Coming from a medical background it’s difficult to find someone I can trust, and after meeting lots of facial aesthetics doctors/dentists I know that I’ll be sticking with her! Also, she gives very helpful information on her instagram and TikTok!
Your questions
Chin Sculpting FAQs
What is chin sculpting?
Chin sculpting, or chin filler, is a non-surgical treatment in which hyaluronic-acid dermal filler is injected onto the chin to improve projection, add volume or definition, and balance the lower face and side profile. It is an option for a weak, small or slightly recessed chin without surgery.
How much does chin filler cost in London?
Chin sculpting at Facial Sculpting starts from £635 for 1ml of hyaluronic-acid filler. The amount of product needed depends on your anatomy and goals, which are assessed at consultation, where your individual plan and price are confirmed.
Does chin filler hurt?
Most patients find chin filler very tolerable. The skin can be numbed with a topical anaesthetic, and most HA fillers also contain local anaesthetic, so you typically feel a small scratch and some pressure. Any discomfort afterwards is usually mild and short-lived.
How long does chin filler last?
Chin filler typically lasts around 12 to 18 months. The chin moves relatively little, so filler here often lasts longer than in mobile areas such as the lips. Longevity varies with the product used, your metabolism and lifestyle, and a top-up maintains the result.
Will chin filler look natural?
When placed conservatively and assessed against your whole profile, chin filler should look natural — strengthening and balancing your features rather than creating an obviously augmented chin. Dr Nina works to a less-is-more philosophy, aiming for a harmonious profile rather than a dramatic change.
Can chin filler be dissolved?
Yes. Because we use hyaluronic-acid filler, chin filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase (hyalase). This makes the treatment reversible, which is reassuring if you change your mind, want an adjustment, or in the rare event of a complication. See our hyalase page for more.
How much filler do I need for my chin?
Many patients start with around 1ml, but the right amount depends on how much projection or definition you want and your starting anatomy. Dr Nina will recommend a sensible quantity at consultation and may suggest refining with a top-up rather than placing a lot in one visit.
Will my chin be swollen after filler?
Some swelling is normal in the first day or two and a little bruising or tenderness is possible. Bruising usually fades within one to two weeks, and it can take around four weeks to see the fully settled result as the filler integrates. We provide aftercare advice to help.
Can chin filler help a double chin?
If a “double chin” appearance is partly caused by a recessed or under-projected chin, improving projection can sharpen the chin–jawline transition and reduce that impression. If the fullness is mainly submental fat or significant skin laxity, a different approach such as tightening or fat-reduction may suit you better — Dr Nina will advise at consultation.
Can chin filler fix a weak or recessed chin?
Chin filler can improve a mild-to-moderate weak or recessed chin by adding projection and balancing the profile. Where the chin is set back due to a significant skeletal (jaw) discrepancy, surgical assessment may be more appropriate — Dr Nina will tell you honestly which route fits your anatomy.
How is chin filler different from jawline slimming?
Chin filler adds projection and definition to the chin using hyaluronic-acid filler. Jawline slimming uses a muscle-relaxing injection to soften a wide or overactive jaw muscle. They address different concerns and are sometimes combined as part of a balanced lower-face plan.
Can chin filler be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Chin sculpting is often planned alongside cheek filler, jawline slimming or treatment of the lines around the mouth, or as part of a wider side profile sculpting plan. Dr Nina will advise on what is appropriate to combine and the right order at consultation.
Is chin filler safe?
Hyaluronic-acid chin filler has a long track record when performed by a trained medical injector. Common effects such as swelling and bruising are temporary; rare risks, including vascular complications, are minimised by careful technique, sound anatomy and a clinic that stocks hyalase. Suitability and risks are discussed in full at consultation.
Is a consultation required before chin filler?
A consultation is recommended to assess your chin, profile and facial proportions, review your medical history, confirm whether chin filler is suitable or whether another option is better, discuss realistic outcomes and reversibility, and agree your individual plan and price before any treatment.
