Chin Sculpting

Chin sculpting, or chin filler, is a non-surgical treatment in which hyaluronic-acid dermal filler is injected onto the chin to improve projection, add volume or definition, and balance the lower face and side profile. It is an option for a weak, small or slightly recessed chin without surgery.

Chin sculpting at Facial Sculpting starts from £635 for 1ml of hyaluronic-acid filler. The amount of product needed depends on your anatomy and goals, which are assessed at consultation, where your individual plan and price are confirmed.

Most patients find chin filler very tolerable. The skin can be numbed with a topical anaesthetic, and most HA fillers also contain local anaesthetic, so you typically feel a small scratch and some pressure. Any discomfort afterwards is usually mild and short-lived.

Chin filler typically lasts around 12 to 18 months. The chin moves relatively little, so filler here often lasts longer than in mobile areas such as the lips. Longevity varies with the product used, your metabolism and lifestyle, and a top-up maintains the result.

When placed conservatively and assessed against your whole profile, chin filler should look natural — strengthening and balancing your features rather than creating an obviously augmented chin. Yes. Because we use hyaluronic-acid filler, chin filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase (hyalase). This makes the treatment reversible, which is reassuring if you change your mind, want an adjustment, or in the rare event of a complication. See our hyalase page for more.

Many patients start with around 1ml, but the right amount depends on how much projection or definition you want and your starting anatomy. Dr Nina will recommend a sensible quantity at consultation and may suggest refining with a top-up rather than placing a lot in one visit.

Some swelling is normal in the first day or two and a little bruising or tenderness is possible. Bruising usually fades within one to two weeks, and it can take around four weeks to see the fully settled result as the filler integrates. We provide aftercare advice to help.

If a “double chin” appearance is partly caused by a recessed or under-projected chin, improving projection can sharpen the chin–jawline transition and reduce that impression. If the fullness is mainly submental fat or significant skin laxity, a different approach such as tightening or fat-reduction may suit you better — Dr Nina will advise at consultation.

Chin filler can improve a mild-to-moderate weak or recessed chin by adding projection and balancing the profile. Where the chin is set back due to a significant skeletal (jaw) discrepancy, surgical assessment may be more appropriate — Dr Nina will tell you honestly which route fits your anatomy.

Yes. Chin sculpting is often planned alongside cheek filler, jawline slimming or treatment of the lines around the mouth, or as part of a wider side profile sculpting plan. Dr Nina will advise on what is appropriate to combine and the right order at consultation.

Hyaluronic-acid chin filler has a long track record when performed by a trained medical injector. Common effects such as swelling and bruising are temporary; rare risks, including vascular complications, are minimised by careful technique, sound anatomy and a clinic that stocks hyalase.
