Did you know glowing skin is not something you are necessarily born with? In fact, everyone can achieve a beautiful, youthful glow anytime and anywhere by following a daily skincare routine for glowing skin.
What is Glowing Skin About?
A glowing complexion is universally recognised as a sign of youth, health, and vitality. Think about a time when you woke up after a great night’s sleep, looked at yourself in the mirror and noticed how your skin looked.
Was it healthier, more radiant, and clearer than usual? Perhaps even a few fine lines that were there last night seemed to have magically disappeared?
That’s what glowing skin is about. Healthy, happy and well-rested,
More specifically, glowing skin is characterised by small pores, even complexion and the absence of blemishes. It is moist and soft, shining but not oily, bright but not dry.
Glowing skin is something a few of us are blessed with genetically, but the good news is that everyone can achieve it.
By implementing the right skincare routine and using products containing specific active ingredients that focus on glow, it is indeed possible to achieve that glossy, dewy look that will make you look and feel younger and healthy.
It is not a process that will happen overnight and will require some patience and diligence, but you can start it anytime and anywhere.
Skincare for the skin is a little bit like going to the gym. If you go once or twice it’s ok, but if you really want to see results you have to go consistently. Same thing for your skin.Dr Nina
Daily Glowing Skin Tips
Implementing a regular skincare routine, by including the right products and ingredients and sticking to it, is one of the most important things you can do to maintain (or gain back) your healthy, youthful glow.
But before we get into skincare routine tips, let’s start with a few other general lifestyle tips for glowing skin.
How To Get Glowing Skin
- Choose the Right Food
‘You are what you eat’ is an old saying that really never gets old, simply because it’s true! Glowing skin starts with what we put inside our bodies because the food we eat has a major influence on our skin quality (and overall health).
Consuming too much oily and junk food will 100% lead to skin issues such as breakouts, dullness and – in the long run – wrinkles. In the same way, food with a high glycemic index, like refined flour, sugar, and white rice not only increases the risk of diabetes, but also triggers the chances of developing acne and other skin problems.
Eating a healthy and balanced diet, rich in vitamins and antioxidants means consuming plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Cutting down on sugars will also help to maintain your natural skin radiance and youthful glow.
- Drink a Lot of Water
Drinking a lot of water ensures that your body remains hydrated, your stomach is clear and the toxins are flushed out properly, which will help you get radiant skin.
Try and start your day with two glasses of lukewarm water and aim to drink at least 2-3 liters of water every day. Your skin will not only glow but will also be soft and supple as it is hydrated from the inside.
- Get Enough Sleep
Getting enough sleep (7-8 hours of sound sleep per night) stimulates collagen production and improves cell turnover, which will keep your skin look younger and plump.
On the other hand, if you don’t get enough sleep, your skin will get tired, sag and look dull. The very first sign of sleep deprivation shows in the form of dark circles and sagging skin under your eyes which speeds up the aging process.
Regular aerobic exercise helps to increase the heart rate, promotes blood circulation, improves oxygenation, and collagen production that helps regenerate your skin cells. It also helps you sweat it out and releases toxins from your body and skin. What follows is a healthier and glowing complexion.
Just remember to apply sunscreen on every inch of skin exposed to the sun when exercising outdoor, avoid wearing make-up as it will clog your pores and always take a shower immediately after your workout.
- Quit Smoking and Avoid Drinking Too Much Alcohol
We all know smoking is bad for your overall health, but it is also very bad for your skin. Tobacco affects the blood vessels, depriving the skin of oxygen and nutrients. This can lead to a pale, greyish or uneven skin tone, premature aging, and a number of other skin disorders such as psoriasis.
Alcohol is also a big enemy of the skin when consumed excessively. It destroys the supply of vitamin A to your bloodstream. Vitamin A is important in collagen stimulation, which is necessary for the skin’s strength. In the absence of vitamin A, skin tends to age faster.
- Pamper Yourself Regularly
This is one of our favourite tips! Take a bath, treat yourself with a manicure and pedicure, laugh. In a word, take care of both your mind and body and do things that make you feel good on a regular basis.
A happy mind is the best tonic for your skin. In fact, there are lots of scientific reports that demonstrate a strong bond between your skin and emotions. In other words, the happier we are the more beautiful we become.
Daily Skincare Routine for Glowing Skin
Now that we talked about how to get glowing skin starting from within, let’s take a look at a few skincare tips that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine.
While Dr Nina advises her clients to always start with a professional skin consultation before implementing any new skincare regimens, there are a few general rules and tips to follow for your everyday routine focused on getting your skin glowing.
1. Be Consistent
The first thing to know, keeping your skin youthful and radiant involves some consistency and patience. You should take some time for your anti-ageing skincare routine at least twice a day every day. The first time after you wake up and before applying any makeup, and the second time before going to sleep.
2. Understand Your Skin Type
After you have committed to be consistent in your daily skincare regimen, the second thing to do is establishing which skin type you belong to. If you are not sure, or want to dig deeper, Dr Nina always recommends coming for an initial consultation before undergoing any treatments or starting a new skincare routine to make sure the products you’ll choose will be the most effective ones for your skin.
3. Always Wear Sunscreen
Always wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen cream or lotion with SPF of 30+ in the morning, even in winter and on cloudy days. No matter the season, UV rays are never good for any skin types and can cause premature ageing and pigmentation.
In fact, even if you stay indoors all day, you should always wear SPF. UVA rays can penetrate through the windows, and even the lights from computers and tablets can age the skin and worsen pigmentation.
4. Choose the Right Products and Ingredients
When it comes to promoting and maintaining glowing skin, it is extremely important to read the label. Being able to recognise the ingredients before purchasing a beauty product means you will avoid getting toxic chemicals entering your body.
Dr Nina knows very well that the combination and the quality of the ingredients make all the difference when it comes to her product’s effectiveness. She recommends incorporating a face serum into your skincare routine, specifically a face brightening serum that focuses mainly on boosting radiance and fading dark spots, such as post-acne marks, melasma and hyperpigmentation.
If you are looking for a serum that focuses on making your skin glow, look no further! Dr Nina has recently launched her very own skincare line, Dr Nina Skin, and her first skincare product is the one face glow serum you should try (if you haven’t already!).

Skincare Steps for Glowing Skin
If using skincare products with the right ingredients isimportant, the order you use them also counts. Follow these steps in the correct order to make sure you are taking care of your skin in the most effective way.
- Cleanse twice a day
To keep your skin healthy and glowing, it’s important to always keep it clean it from dirt, excess oil, makeup residue and dead skin cells. Therefore, make sure to always wash your face after you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed at night with a cleanser that is most suited to your skin type.
- Use a toner
Immediately after cleansing, you can opt for using a toner depending on your skin’s needs. This step can be completely optional in a good skincare routine, but it’s a great way to prep the skin to absorb the products you are applying right after.
Toners can help brighten and even out your complexion, especially when they contain AHAs such as glycolic acid and lactic acid to gently exfoliate the skin, or and BHAs like salicylic acid to deeply cleanse the pores.
- Incorporate serums in your daily routine
After cleansing and toning, this is when your skin is the most receptive and ready to absorb all the active ingredients contained in the serum.
- Apply moisturiser twice daily
If you feel your skin is tight and craves more hydration after applying your serum, then your next step is to apply moisturiser mornings and evenings. Make sure to use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher every morning, even if it’s cloudy outside.
- Exfoliate once a week
Exfoliation is a must when it comes to healthy skin. While you exfoliate, you remove dead skin cells, which results in an immediate healthier glow. If you exfoliate regularly, your skin will appear much brighter and soft in the long run.
Daily Skincare Routine for Glowing Skin: Final Thoughts
Glowing and healthy-looking skin comes first and foremost from the inside out. Getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, quit smoking, eating a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, etc. are all healthy habits that should be part of your daily skincare routine in order to keep your skin radiant.
Following a daily skincare regimen based on the right products and ingredients is equally important. Especially when your lifestyle does occasionally make it difficult to maintain all the healthy habits above, it can make all the difference in supporting your skin’s health and radiance.
