‘Facial aesthetic treatments’ is a broad definition that includes all the non-surgical treatments of the face, from topical medical-grade skincare products to injectables, to thread lifts.
As these treatments are becoming more popular than ever before, many people still lack proper knowledge of what facial aesthetic treatments are outside of the misconceptions they might hear from other people.
Here at Facial Sculpting we would like to take the time to explain what facial aesthetic treatments really are, what kind of treatments facial aesthetics entail, and why Dr Nina Bal is considered one of the best practitioners in the field of non-surgical cosmetic treatments.
Facial Aesthetic Treatments: The Basics
We are all familiar today with the consequences of the natural ageing process, our lifestyles and the environment we live in: unwanted facial lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tones being the most common ones.
Facial aesthetic treatments can help mask or even delay the passage of time. They are designed to soften expression lines and define facial contours, which rejuvenates and refreshes your natural skin, giving the face – and the person’s confidence – a boost. By targeting the areas most affected by the ageing process – the forehead, lips, cheeks, and nose/mouth areas – facial aesthetics can help create an overall more pleasing face.
In other words, facial aesthetics treatments are non-surgical treatments designed to accentuate facial features and enhance one’s natural beauty, making noticeable but subtle improvements to one’s appearance.
What Kind Of Treatments Are Considered Facial Aesthetic Treatments?
So what are facial aesthetics treatments in practice? Simply put, they are clinically safe injectables that are used to either block nerve signals to muscles to relax facial expressions or to define, re-volumise and accentuate facial contours. As a result, they help create a more pleasing face by smoothing the lines that cause a lack of symmetry in the face, hence aligning patients’ faces with the characteristics that often define beauty.
That’s how Dr Nina, abiding by the Golden Ratio of Beauty, can transform a face aesthetically within minutes, safely and with no invasive procedures.
Aesthetic treatments come in a variety of forms, which target various portions of the body. Facial aesthetic treatments, specifically, break down to two major categories:
- Wrinkle Treatments With Botulinum Toxin Type A
- Botulinum toxin type A is an injectable neurotoxin that works by blocking nerve impulses to the muscles, causing them to relax. As a result, your expressions soften and those wrinkles that form from facial movements we tend to make every day – like frowning, squinting, smiling etc. – are greatly reduced.
- Filler Treatments
- Dermal fillers are gel-like substances (the most popular being Hyaluronic acid) that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines, or enhance facial contours. There are many different types of filler treatments. The most popular one’s at Nina’s clinic are cheek and chin sculpting, hands rejuvenation, jawline fillers, under-eye fillers, and many more.

The Most Popular Facial Aesthetic Treatments By Dr Nina
Did you know that dentists are exceptionally well-qualified to perform facial aesthetics treatments, thanks to their knowledge of facial anatomy and their ability to perform delicate treatments on a daily basis?
Dr Nina Bal is a Cosmetic Dental Surgeon and Facial Aesthetics Doctor. A member of the General Dental Council, she is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and SaveFace (the National Register of Accredited Practitioners who provide non-surgical cosmetic treatments).
Dr Nina’s services include restorative cosmetic dentistry, facial aesthetic treatments and aesthetic medicine, non-surgical cosmetic procedures and non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments.
Here we are going to focus on the most popular facial aesthetic treatments that she performs at her London clinics.
Aquagold fine touch is the new revolutionary treatment favoured by the Hollywood elite. It consists of a 24-carat gold screw thread micro-injection, which painlessly delivers a cocktail of ingredients deep into the skin with a droplet splaying effect. Some of these ingredients include:
- Hyaluronic acid. A soft, gel-like substance that absorbs water and brings deep skin hydration to the treated areas, giving it improved firmness, elasticity and smoothness.
- Vitamins and antioxidants, which stimulate the skin for improved healing after laser and help maintain collagen levels.
- Pigment reducers to prohibit the melanin response. Combined with sunblock and sunscreen, they contribute to reducing discolouration.
Wrinkle Treatment (both for men and women)
The Wrinkle Treatment has become one of the most popular cosmetic treatments used to combat these outward signs of ageing.
The Wrinkle Treatment can make the skin appear smoother by relaxing facial muscles, preventing deeper lines from forming over time, and by filling the loss of volume due to the lack of collagen typical of the ageing process.

Cheek fillers can bring the face into balance by making the cheekbones more prominent. This can give you instant, razor-sharp definition and a natural-looking, youthful appearance. The treatment also smooths the nose-to-mouth lines, effectively lifting the entire face.
Temporary fillers are injected under the skin above the cheekbones. Dr Nina uses either Restylane, Juvederm (hyaluronic acid) or Radiesse (calcium hydroxy apatite), or Ellanse (Polycaprolactone).
Ellanse and Radiesse also acts as a collagen stimulator, adding more volume and definition.
Chin Sculpting is a non-surgical procedure and is an excellent and affordable option for patients with a weak chin, a small chin, or irregularities in the chin.
The procedure involves injecting hyaluronic acid into the skin to improve projection, volume or definition in the chin. This can also change the contour of the face by balancing the facial features.
Chin Sculpting is often required by patients who have had just had Nose Sculpting, in order to maintain the right proportions and the ‘Golden Ratio’ of facial beauty.
Dorsal Hump Nose Correction
At Facial Sculpting we can now sculpt your nose and remove the hump with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers: your nose will look straight in less than half an hour without surgery or scalpel needed. Results last for up to 12 months and improve with each treatment, as the hyaluronic acid builds up on your skin.
The procedure is painless and you can return to work afterwards. After numbing cream is applied, small amounts of hyaluronic acid filler are injected around the nose, which works to alter its shape. Results can be seen instantly, with further improvement up to two weeks after treatment.
Non-invasive and with reversible and more predictable results, this is a win-win for people seeking non-surgical alternatives to rhinoplasty. We also treat people who’ve had nose surgery already and aren’t satisfied with the results.
Face Shape Sculpting
Any face shape can be flattered and rejuvenated by more sculpted cheekbones and a sharper jawline. However, facial sculpting is Dr Nina’s speciality and we can also work with you to move towards your desired face shape, using dermal fillers and wrinkle treatments to add volume and structure.
Lip Enhancement Treatment
Here at Facial Sculpting, we aim for a sultry yet natural look for our Lip Enhancement Treatment, with the bottom lip slightly fuller than the top one.
After applying a topical anaesthetic, we inject the hyaluronic acid dermal filler into the body of the lips in younger women, and at the lip edge for more mature women (who might find their lips shape are starting to lose definition). Results are instant but will be complete at two weeks once the filler has been completely integrated.
The marionette lines are long vertical lines which commonly develop on each side of the chin during the ageing process, due to the loosening of skin in the cheeks and lower part of the face.
These creases can be very deep and noticeable but they can be treated with different non-surgical treatment options, such as dermal filler injections, skin boosters or PDO threads.
After a topical anaesthetic has been applied, the hyaluronic acid dermal filler, skin boosters or threads are injected at a specific point in or around these folds. The crease is softened and plumped up and there’s a lifting effect on the whole face. The results are immediate and last from 6-12 months.
Jawline Fillers Treatment
The Jawline Fillers treatment can help both men and women attain a more masculine or feminine jawline, respectively.
Injecting hyaluronic acid dermal fillers into the jawline can give men who feel their face is too slim or too oval a more chiselled profile.
This treatment is also very popular in women, who find that ageing has caused them to lose definition, and want to restore a more youthful look with an upward lift of the jowls.
Profhilo is a stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid free of any chemical cross-linking agents, indicated for the treatment of tissue remodelling and skin laxity. Profhilo Treatment intervenes:
- In the physiological process of ageing tissue, in the presence of alterations in elastic fibres and collagen.
- In the dermal tissue repair process, in cases of acne or scars.
- In case of loss or compromised adipose tissue.
Anyone who presents with signs of skin ageing and is suitable for dermal filler treatment is also suitable for treatment with Profhilo.
The key to Profhilo’s popularity is a unique structure and balance of scientific properties, including a high cohesivity, that allow the product to flow freely through the subcutaneous tissue and the dermis, in a way that traditional hyaluronic acid fillers cannot.
Thread Face Lift Treatment
The Thread facelift with V Soft Line is the new generation of facelift where no surgical intervention is required. This treatment is designed to reset your face V shape by placing thin lifting threads subdermally or intradermally.
At the same time, this treatment stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which provide more noticeable skin rejuvenation. One can lift and treat these areas:
- double chin
- thin folds
- and more
The treatment takes about 30-60 minutes and is performed by inserting a thin needle under the skin. The procedure is similar to one or filler treatment. The thread is thinner than a hair strand and consists of polydioxanone (PDO) that has been used for over twenty years in surgery.
Durability can vary from one to two years, depending on age, lifestyle and skin type. After treatment, you can go home immediately and at best, there will hardly be any bleeding or swelling.
Facial skin peels are a very popular and safe non-surgical procedure that can boost your skin’s appearance and help to dramatically reduce the effects of skin damage.
A low-concentration peeling agent is applied to the skin, prompting a peeling process. The top layer of dead skin peels off and the resulting accelerated cell growth – part of the healing process – leaves skin looking and feeling firmer, smoother and younger.
Dr Nina recommends skin peels to everyone. They’re the entry point of non-surgical aesthetic treatments, addressing skin tone and elasticity before even addressing wrinkles.
Facial Aesthetics – FAQs
Apart from the first 24-72 hours when there is swelling (after fillers), no one will be able to tell. People might notice your great skin and compliment you on it but they won’t be able to pinpoint any difference.
Discomfort is minimal with fillers. Dr Nina uses a topical anaesthetic cream on the skin before fillers and uses the smallest needles you can find in medicine. Her gentle manner will reassure you.
Allergic reactions to a wrinkle treatment are extremely rare. Post-treatment discomfort is generally limited to bruising, for which I recommend ice, Arnica and paracetamol.
A wrinkle treatment lasts three months, and fillers 6-12 months, with this being dependent on the patient’s metabolism and activity levels.
