In this post, we are going to talk in-depth about the top 5 facial aesthetic treatments to help you achieve the better version of ourselves that Dr Nina performs at her London clinics.
Facial Aesthetics Top Treatments and Products
Facial Aesthetics is the classification of cosmetic treatments designed to accentuate your features and enhance natural beauty. These treatments often entail the use of wrinkle treatments and injectable fillers that are designed to soften expression lines and define facial contours, giving you a natural and fresh look to your face.
Dr Nina is an expert in administrating a wide range of facial aesthetic treatments, from fillers to chemical peels, to skin boosters and many others that we are going to describe in detail in the next paragraphs.
She is a member of the Save Face (the UK National Register of Accredited Practitioners that provide non-surgical cosmetic treatments) and winner of the Aesthetic Dentistry Awards 2018 in the Facial Aesthetics category – Full Facial Treatment. She also won Finalist in the Facial Aesthetics – Dermal Fillers category in 2019.
Let’s have a closer look at the top 5 facial aesthetic treatments Dr Nina performs regularly for her patients.
1. Injectable Dermal Fillers
The most common signs of aging can be traced back to volume loss, due to the fact that our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat and collagen as we age. As facial tissues thin out, smile lines and crow’s feet become more visible and cheeks may look a little hollow. Sun exposure, heredity and lifestyle can also add and accelerate this process.
While aging is inevitable, we can do something to help our skin maintain its youthful look with the help of dermal fillers. Fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to help diminish facial lines by restoring lost volume and fullness in the face.
This is one of the top facial aesthetics treatments performed annually by thousands of men and women, who choose fillers as a cost-effective way to look younger without surgery or downtime.
What Dermal Fillers Can do
Injectable dermal fillers can not only smooth out fine lines and prevent the forming of deeper wrinkles, but they are also effective in redefining the symmetry of the face by balancing volumes and making the face aesthetically more attractive.
Here are a few examples of what they can do:
- Smooth out lines around nose and mouth
- Plump and enhance the lips and/or diminish vertical lip lines
- Enhance and restore volume to sunken cheeks
- Redefining chin’s volume
- Improve general facial symmetry
- Reduce fine lines and dark circles under your eyes
What Are Fillers Made Of
In general, fillers are categorized by the substance they are made from.
At Facial Sculpting, we use only the best quality products approved in UK. These include Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse and Ellanse, all extremely safe temporary fillers. Ellanse and Radiesse also acts as a collagen stimulator, adding more volume and definition.
To inject fillers under the skin, Dr Nina uses Pediatric 32 gauge needles, the smallest needles available on the market, which cause minimal pain.
But what are fillers made of?
- Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in our skin, which helps keep skin plump and hydrated. HA fillers include Juvéderm and Restylane products (also known as skin boosters).
- Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA)
Calcium hydroxylapatite is also a naturally occurring substance, found primarily in our bones. It is typically used in fillers to target deeper lines and wrinkles, and it is also reported to help stimulate natural collagen production. CaHA fillers include Radiesse.
- Poly-Caprolactone (PCL)
Poly-Caprolactone is a well-known totally bioresorbable soft medical polymer. One of Dr Nina’s most used fillers, Ellanse, is made of Poly-Caprolactone microspheres suspended in a gel carrier consists of mainly water and glycerine. When injected into the skin, it acts as an instant filler giving instant results. Ellanse also stimulates the production of new collagen in and around the treated area.
Dermal Fillers FAQs
Fillers are not recommended if:
– you are suffering from skin infections
– you have experienced any reactions to local anaesthetic
– you’re taking any medicines which affect bleeding
– you have an autoimmune disease
– you are pregnant
– you are under 18
Effective topical anaesthetic cream is used prior to the treatment to numb the area to make the procedure as painless as possible.
You may experience at times slight swelling after the treatment so therefore ice packs can be applied or ibuprofen if you are uncomfortable. Make up should be avoided for the first 12 hours after the treatment.
The results of the treatment can last up to 6-12 months sometimes longer depending on how fast your metabolism works. Every person’s individual metabolism is different to the next, the longevity of filler will also vary greatly from one person to another. For those with a very fast metabolic rate, filler will break down more rapidly than in those with a slower metabolic rate.
All treatments carry a degree of risk. All risks and complications will be discussed with Dr Nina at the consultation. Side effects can include swelling, bruising tenderness, itching.
2. Dermaroller, Derma Stamp, Dermapen
Microneedling with Dermaroller, Derma Stamp or Dermapen is also a very popular facial aesthetic treatment at Dr Nina’s clinics. This treatment can help with the following aging signs:
- Fine lines on face and décolletage
- Aging hands
- Acne scarring
- Stretch marks
How it works
Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles. This process causes the skin surface to tighten and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin to create smoother, younger-looking skin.
A topical anaesthetic is used to numb the skin first before the needles are introduced with a choice of microneedling devices – Dermaroller, Derma Stamp or Dermapen. During consultation, we will assess which device – the difference lies in their shape – is most suitable for you.
A slightly sunburnt complexion is common immediately after treatment and will up to 48 hours.
Results can be seen within six weeks (one skin regrowth cycle). Repeat treatments will lead to further rejuvenation, less visible stretch marks and faded scarring. At Facial Sculpting, Dr Nina recommends a minimum of three sessions every four weeks.
To complete the full One-hour Dermaroller Facelift we follow Derma Stamp with AQ Skin Solutions’ Recovery Serum, applied with a purpose-made Derma Stamp.
3. Thread Lifts
Thread lift with V Soft Line is the new generation of facelift where no surgical intervention is required. It’s a popular facial aesthetic treatment that resets your face V-shape by placing thin lifting threads subdermally or intradermally.
V Soft Line addresses some problems associated with facial aging that are only otherwise dealt with by invasive surgery, in particular sagging aspects of the low face, neck and jawline. Although the results cannot be compared to surgery, the treatment is more affordable and tolerable and can be combined with other treatments like fillers for optimal results.
How it works
The treatment takes about 30-60 minutes and is performed by inserting a thin needle under the skin. The procedure is similar to filler treatments.
Thread is thinner than a hair strand and consists of monofilament polydioxanone (PDO), a biocompatible suture material that holds the tissue and stimulates collagen formation.
V Soft Line is a minor non-invasive treatment with thin threads that lift the skin, increase elasticity. The threads are completely biodegradable. Side effects are minimal except for possible bruising and swelling. Immediately after the treatment you may return to your normal daily activities.
Durability can vary from one to two years, depending on age, lifestyle and skin type. Results generally last longer in people who take care of their skin and general health by avoiding the sun, following a healthy diet and refrain from smoking.
4. Chemical Peel
Facial skin peels are a very popular and safe non-surgical procedure that can boost your skin’s appearance and help to dramatically reduce the effects of skin damage.
How it works
A low-concentration peeling agent is applied to the skin, prompting a peeling process. The top layer of dead skin peels off and the resulting accelerated cell growth – part of the healing process – leaves skin looking and feeling firmer, smoother and younger.
With the treatment lasting up to an hour, you can squeeze a facial peel into a lunch break. The effects can be seen instantly with superficial peels or within a week to 10 days for deeper peels, depending on which treatment is right for you.
Dr Nina recommends skin peels to everyone, as they’re the entry point of non-surgical aesthetic treatments.
Profhilo is a stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid indicated for the treatment of tissue remodelling and skin laxity, free of any chemical crosslinking agents.
Anyone who presents with signs of skin ageing and is suitable for dermal filler treatment is also suitable for treatment with Profhilo.
The key to Profhilo’s popularity is a unique structure and balance of scientific properties, including a high cohesivity, that allow the product to flow freely through subcutaneous tissue and the dermis, in a way that traditional hyaluronic acid fillers cannot.
Hybrid complexing allows Profhilo to provide greater benefits than each type of hyaluronic acid it contains, without the disadvantages.
Profhilo has better active restorative capabilities than low molecular weight hyaluronic acid. However, rather than being proinflammatory, Profhilo is actually less inflammatory than even high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, and also has its restructuring capabilities.
How does Profhilo work?
Profhilo can be administered in a number of different ways although the most common and effective method is to use the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) technique.
The BAP technique consists of injecting five areas on each side of the face, usually on the lower part of the face. This is done to help reduce the number of injections needed and to allow the Profhilo treatment to more effectively fight the signs of aging.
Benefits of Profhilo
This treatment gives hydration, luminosity, sparkle, firmness and strength to the skin of both the face and neck, with a very potent anti-aging effect.
In particular, Profhilo intervenes:
- In the physiological process of aging tissue, in presence of alterations in elastic fibers and collagen.
- In the dermal tissue repair process, in cases of acne or scars.
- In case of loss or compromised adipose tissue.
Overall, patients can expect increased firmness, elasticity and improved quality of the skin, with the effects lasting up to six months.
Two treatments are recommended four weeks apart, with a follow-up appointment at week eight, to be repeated twice a year for optimal profhilo results.
Using a variety of facial aesthetic treatments to enhance your best features is a great option for many people. Dermal fillers, microneedling, thread lifts, chemical peels and profhilo are amongst the top 5 most popular facial aesthetic treatments for the better version of ourselves. However, it’s very important to choose an aesthetician with experience and proper training who can give proper and safe injections.
Dr Nina not only has years of experience administering these treatments, but she’s also constantly learning and gaining knowledge in her field to make sure her patients have access to the newest procedures.
