What is Profhilo® BODY? 

Profhilo® BODY is a minimally invasive treatment formulated specifically to restore your body image and address your sagging skin concerns. 

It delivers highly concentrated hyaluronic acid to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin required to tighten the skin and combat the signs of ageing in the body. 

Unlike Profhilo® which only addresses skin in the face, neck and decolletage,  Profhilo® BODY is designed specifically for sagging skin in two areas of the body; 

• The abdomen 
• The inner arm

Why is Profhilo® BODY targeted at the abdomen and inner arm?

To combat the signs of ageing a lot of men and women focus on the facial and neck skin. The other areas of the body affected by ageing are often ignored since they are covered by cloth. However, sagging skin around the abdomen and inner arm will become an issue when it starts robbing you of your body confidence. Sagging body skin may prevent you from wearing certain clothes or exposing some parts of your body in public. Some people with lax skin may even find it difficult to expose their bodies before their partners.

How Profhilo® BODY works 

Profhilo® BODY is an injectable treatment that contains highly concentrated hyaluronic acid.  The major cause of skin sagging is the loss of collagen and elastin which are essential components for the firm and fresh skin. Hyaluronic acid in Profhilo® BODY stimulates the natural production of elastin and collagen. It draws water from the body to tighten the skin and smother it. 

Profhilo® BODY is a skin remodelling treatment because molecules absorbed into the skin continually regenerate the skin. The Profhilo® BODY does not just tighten loose skins, it improves skin textures that might otherwise appear frail, thin and creepy.

Who is a good candidate for Profhilo® BODY treatment?

People in their late twenties can undergo the treatment to prevent any future skin laxity and frailness. Older people or people who are experiencing skin laxity can also undergo treatment to tighten and rejuvenate their skin.

• People who are allergic to hyaluronic acid.
• People who have bleeding disorders.
• People who have a compromised immune system. 
• People who have skin inflammation on the intended treatment site.

What to expect during the Profhilo® BODY treatment 

Here at our award-winning medical aesthetics clinics, the first step in Profhilo® BODY treatment is consultation with DR Nina Bal. She will discuss your skin concerns and expectations.  She will also examine your skin and ascertain your medical history to determine if you are a good fit for the treatment. After the consultation, a personalised treatment plan will be devised for you. 

The Profhilo® BODY will be administered into the upper layer of your skin with a small syringe.  Before the injection pain- numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area. The points of injection will be marked out based on the BAP technique, a standard technique for skin treatment. Based on this technique, ten points will be marked out for the injection.

The injections will be gently administered to minimise pain. You may feel a slight stinging effect after each injection. However, it will subside very fast. After the injections, a Profhilo® BODY patch cream will be gently applied to the treatment area to soothe and moisturize the skin. The remaining cream will also be given to you for post-treatment care at home. 

How many sessions do I need to maximize the results of Profhilo® BODY treatment

The Profhilo® BODY procedure is divided into two sessions spaced four weeks apart. There will also be a follow-up treatment appointment after 8 weeks. It is better to undergo the Profhilo® BODY procedure twice a year for lasting results.

When will I see the result of Profhilo® BODY treatment

After the administration of Profhilo® BODY into your skin, the hyaluronic acid will be gradually broken down and absorbed into your skin to perform rejuvenation functions.  You should see significant results  3 to 4 months after the procedure. 

What is the downtime for Profhilo® BODY treatment

Profhilo® BODY treatment does not have a downtime. The treatment will last for about 30 minutes. You can resume your daily activity immediately after the treatment.  However, depending on your body system you may decide to take a rest.

After treatment tips for Profhilo® BODY treatment

• Do not touch or rub the treatment area for at least 7 hours after the treatment to prevent transmission of infection.
• Avoid strenuous activities for 24 hours after the treatment 
• Avoid the gym, sauna and steam rooms for at least 48 hours after the treatment 

Side effects of Profhilo® BODY treatment

You may notice the following side effects on the treatment area but they will resolve 2 to 3 after the treatment 

• Skin swelling and tenderness 
• Slight skin bruising 
• Skin itching
