What Is a Non-Surgical Facelift Procedure
Non-surgical, minimally invasive cosmetic procedures are Dr. Nina’s specialty, as she is most passionate about enhancing a patient’s innate beauty rather than changing her/his appearance completely.
Her philosophy is ‘less is more’ and she loves to make subtle aesthetic tweaks that lead to excellent, yet natural, results.
A non-surgical facelift is a combination of minimally invasive and non-surgical procedures that aim to reduce the signs of aging, giving you a natural and fresh look to your face.
Benefits of Non-Surgical Facelift Procedures
Like all non-surgical cosmetic procedures, non-surgical facelifts will give you more subtle results compared to surgical procedures. However, even though you won’t ‘go under the knife’, the anti-aging results from a non-surgical facelift will be still significant.
Specifically, non-invasive facelift procedures can be very effective at targeting:
- wrinkles and deep creases
- loss of facial volume
- skin tone and texture
They also come with a few key benefits that should be taken into careful consideration when it comes to deciding between surgical and non-surgical facelift procedures.
Non-surgical facelift procedures are affordable
Compared with surgical facelifts, non-surgical or minimally invasive procedures are a fraction of the cost, which makes them more widely accessible.
Non-surgical facelift procedures involve little recovery time
In general, the recovery time is significantly less for non-surgical procedures compared to surgical ones, with little post-op discomfort and minimal downtime.
Non-surgical facelift procedures are quick
Many non-surgical treatments take less than an hour to complete. In most cases, you can have a facelift procedure done in your lunch break and be back at work on the same day!
Non-surgical facelift procedures come with little discomfort
Non-surgical facelift procedures typically have minimal aftercare. In many cases, you can manage any discomfort with over-the-counter pain medication.
Non-surgical facelift procedures have few risks overall
Because you don’t need general anesthesia or large incisions, fewer risks are typically involved with non-surgical cosmetic procedures in general.
Popular Facelift Procedures – Which To Choose?
There are many options when it comes to non-invasive cosmetic procedures to lift your face.
Facelifts come in various types, addressing different issues such as fine lines, deep creases, thinning lips, facial volume loss, and more.
Dr. Nina always recommends her patients to book an initial 1:1 consultation, so that she can tailor your treatments to meet your unique needs.

Here is a quick recap of each of the most popular non-invasive facelift procedures.
The most common signs of aging can be traced back to volume loss, due to the fact that our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat and collagen as we age.
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, or even enhance facial contours.
This is one of the top facial aesthetics treatments performed annually by thousands of men and women, who choose fillers as a cost-effective way to look younger without surgery or downtime.
Ultherapy is a non-surgical ultrasound treatment that stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin deep within the skin.
Non-invasive and requiring just a topical anaesthetic cream, it is used to tighten and smooth skin on the upper and lower face, the neck and the décolletage.
The precise application of ultrasound energy is used to target the deep layers of the skin without disrupting its surface. After treatment, the body’s tissue repair process stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, creating a lifting and tightening effect.
A face-and-neck Ultherapy procedure takes 45-60 minutes and involves a minimum downtime.
You may see some initial lift after three weeks, but ultimate results will be evident over a 2–3 month period, as the growth of new collagen and elastin replaces old tissue targeted by the treatment. Effects from a single Ultherapy treatment can last for over a year.
Chemical Skin Peels
Facial skin peels are a very popular and safe non-surgical procedure that can boost your skin’s appearance and help to dramatically reduce the effects of skin damage. Skin peels use a low-concentration peeling agent to remove old, dead skin cells from the outer layers of the skin and reveal newer, firmer and smoother-looking skin.
Dr. Nina recommends skin peels to everyone, as they’re the entry point of all non-surgical aesthetic treatments.
Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a skin resurfacing technology that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles. Instead of removing layers of skin with chemicals, microneedling creates microscopic “injuries” in the skin that trigger its natural healing response and prompt it to produce new collagen and elastin.
The needles are introduced with a choice of microneedling devices – Dermaroller, Derma Stamp, or Dermapen. The difference between these devices lies in their shape, and Dr. Nina will assess which device is most suitable for you during the consultation.
Profhilo is a stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid, free of any chemical crosslinking agents, which is used for tissue remodeling and the treatment of skin laxity.
The key to Profhilo’s popularity is a unique structure and balance of scientific properties, including a high cohesivity, that allow the product to flow freely through the subcutaneous tissue and the dermis, in a way that traditional hyaluronic acid fillers cannot.
The wrinkle treatment with Botulinum toxin type A has become one of the most popular cosmetic treatments used to combat the outward signs of aging.
Botulinum toxin type A is an injectable neurotoxin that works by blocking nerve impulses to the muscles, causing them to relax. As a result, your expressions soften and those wrinkles that form from facial movements we tend to make every day – like frowning, squinting, smiling etc. – are greatly reduced.
This treatment aims to relax the facial muscles, making the skin appear smoother, prevent deeper lines forming over time, or even fill the loss of volume replenishing the collagen lost.
Most Popular Facelift Procedure: Thread Face Lift
Depending on your concerns, Dr. Nina can help you decide on the type of non-surgical procedure that will work best for you.
Below, we are going to talk more about the one facelift procedure that has been developed to fill in the gap between non-invasive facial rejuvenation treatments and facelift surgery – the thread lift.
Thread lift with V Soft Line is the new generation of facelift where no surgical intervention is required. It’s a popular facial aesthetic treatment that resets your face V-shape by placing thin lifting threads subdermally or intradermally.
V Soft Line addresses some problems associated with facial aging that are only otherwise dealt with by invasive surgery, in particular sagging aspects of the low face, neck, and jawline. Although the results cannot be compared to surgery, the treatment is more affordable and tolerable and can be combined with other treatments like fillers for optimal results.
Benefits of Thread Face Lift
V Soft Line is a minor non-invasive treatment with thin threads that lift the skin and increase elasticity. The threads are completely biodegradable and side effects are minimal.
In addition to being ideal for lifting the skin, threads combat aging by provoking the body’s “healing response” and causing the body to direct large surges of collagen to treated areas. This is a good thing, because of the vital role collagen plays in the aging process.
Collagen is produced by our bodies and, among other functions, it helps keep our skin strong, voluminous and supple. As we get older, our bodies gradually produce less and less collagen, which leads to an 80% reduction in skin thickness by about age 70. This loss of volume and strength is a large factor in the creation of excess skin and wrinkles.
Hence, infusing the skin of the face with fresh collagen when the signs of skin laxity are still mild can help to both reduce looseness by thickening and hydrating the skin and prevent it from getting worse.
Thread Face Lift FAQs
The treatment takes about 30-60 minutes and is performed by inserting a thin needle under the skin. The procedure is similar to filler treatments.
Thread is thinner than a hair strand and consists of monofilament polydioxanone (PDO), a biocompatible suture material that holds the tissue and stimulates collagen formation.
This means that the thread face lift procedure can provide ongoing and progressive rejuvenation for the facial tissues. While threads are in place, the body’s healing response will be constantly activated in an attempt to “heal” the sutured areas, without causing any discomfort once the skin has healed around them.
Many people choose a thread lift for facial areas that “sag” or look less tight over time. These areas include jawline, brow line, under-eye area, forehead, cheeks.
A thread lift is considered a very safe procedure, but like with any treatments, there can be a few side effects. After a thread lift, it’s not uncommon to experience minor bruising, swelling, bleeding, slight pain at the site of the thread injections.
These should subside within a few hours and in most cases, you may return to your normal daily activities immediately after the treatment.
Durability can vary from one to two years, depending on age, lifestyle, and skin type. Results generally last longer in people who take care of their skin and general health by avoiding the sun, following a healthy diet, and refrain from smoking.
To ensure the best results, there are a few things you should avoid right after the procedure and for at least a week after having threads placed. For example, it’s important to make sure that you don’t rub your face vigorously while cleansing it or applying moisturizer. You should also try to avoid sleeping on your stomach or side, wearing makeup, drinking alcohol, making extreme facial expressions, and receiving facials and facial massages.
While thread face lifts certainly produce visible changes, they create a more subtle and natural-looking end result than surgical facelift procedure.
Because thread lifts are so low-risk and involve a short recovery time, it’s possible to combine them with other non-surgical procedures – such as ultherapy, to name one – in order to create more comprehensive, noticeable results.
By combining a number of different non-surgical treatments, patients can achieve a profoundly positive change in their appearance – without enduring the extended recovery time associated with ‘going under the knife’.
