Glowing, radiant skin is universally recognised as a sign of youth, health, and vitality. So if there is one thing Dr Nina recommends incorporating in your daily skincare routine is some glowing skin products made of high-quality ingredients.
But let’s take a step back and define what a glowing, radiant complexion is, and what are the steps to follow to achieve that for yourself.
What is Glowing Skin?
Think about the best summer holiday you have ever had. What did your complexion look like at the end of it? Chances are it looked healthier, more radiant, and clearer than usual. That is what can be defined as glowing skin.
Unfortunately, holidays always end and, after a while, we tend to go back to our normal, sometimes stressful routines. Hours in front of a computer monitor, lack of exercise and/or sleep, an unbalanced diet, cold weather etc. are all factors that can negatively impact our skin and make it lose its radiance over time.
Skin that is dull or dry can make you look tired and older than your real age. However, the good news is that getting glowing skin is possible even without going on a vacation! No matter if your skin is mature or still young, normal or problematic, all it takes is a combination of the right glowing skin products, a consistent skincare routine, and a good dose of patience.
We won’t tell you that achieving a brighter, more luminous, and shining complexion is a process that happens overnight, because that would be a lie! But what is true is that you can certainly start it anytime and anywhere.
By implementing the right skincare routine and using glowing skin products containing specific active ingredients, it is indeed possible to achieve that glossy, dewy look that will make you look and feel younger and healthy.
The Journey to Your Best Skin Starts with the Best Products
Glowing skin starts from within. Eating a healthy and balanced diet, cutting down on sugars, getting enough sleep and exercise, drinking plenty of water will help to maintain your natural skin radiance and youthful glow.
But a healthy lifestyle is not always enough – or sometimes is not even possible. A sleepless night, stress, but also travelling intensively, a poor diet, taking certain medicines, etc. are all factors that can compromise your face’s radiance, and over which you have little control.
This is why we are here to take you a step further and talk about something you could actively do to regain control of your skin’s appearance: choose the best glowing skin products on the market and incorporate them into your daily skincare routine.
“Your skin is constantly undergoing change, triggered from within and by external factors. It is constantly reacting to everything; from the passing of time to your lifestyle choices and the environment around you. To support your best skin from this moment on and beyond, it’s time to review your choices and your skincare regime. I’d like to introduce you to my Face Sculpt Serum, which I believe will be your new best friend on your pathway to your best skin.”Dr Nina Bal
Top Glowing Skin Products: Face Serums
Serums are clear, gel-based, or liquid skincare products that are designed to deliver high concentrations of specific active ingredients to the skin. They’re typically applied before moisturisers to help lock in moisture and tend to be less thick than a cream.
But why Dr Nina recommends face serums as some of the best glowing skin products available?
Among all skincare products, serums are the best at doing what they claim to do. Thanks to their highly-concentrated, lightweight formulas, they have the unique ability to penetrate deeply into the cellular level of the skin. And, since they are designed to absorb quickly and penetrate deeper, they typically deliver visible results in a shorter period of time compared to regular face creams and moisturisers.
Face Serums to Make Your Skin Glow
Serums work great to target specific concerns like acne, dry skin, brightness, wrinkles, and more. A rule of thumb before choosing a face serum (or any skincare products) is to get to know your skin type and implement a skincare regimen that is effective for your skin. This is why Dr Nina always recommends coming for an initial consultation before undergoing any facial aesthetic treatments or starting a new skincare routine.
Face Serums FAQs
Definitely yes! Dr Nina recommends using a face serum twice daily, incorporating it in your day and night skincare routine.
Always start by washing your face and hands thoroughly. Using a toner after cleansing is optional, but highly recommended. This is because a toner help prepare your skin for maximum absorption of the serum and your other skincare products. Pump two or three drops of serum into your palm and gently massage a pea-sized amount of your serum to the face and neck area. Allow to absorb into skin and then follow with your favorite moisturizer and sunscreen.
Pro Tip: use your index and middle finger to apply it all over your face, neck, and décolletage in an upwards motion. Massage until completely absorbed. Try to use your ring or little finger for the delicate area around the eyes, so it’s a little bit more delicate.
Nope! The serum has to always be applied after cleansing. The right order is cleanser, toner (optional) and then serum, never the other way around.
If after applying the serum your skin still feels tight and in need of more hydration, then you can apply a moisturiser on top. This is not a fixed rule and it very much depends on your skin. However, the face serum can and should be used before applying your makeup, and just before applying the SPF. Remember the last skincare step before applying makeup is always sun protection!
To allow serums to fully absorb, apply, and wait 5 minutes before applying any other products. Note that good-quality serums should absorb quickly and disappear into your skin effortlessly. If they leave an oily or sticky residue, they’re not doing their job well.
Most face serums on the market are normally water-based. This means they have a lighter texture and should always be applied under thicker products (think your face cream or sunscreen) to ensure that they can penetrate deeply. On the other hand, face oils have bigger molecules and should go on top of your moisturisers. They are formulated to keep everything that you put underneath intact and moist for the entire day.
There isn’t a fixed age when you should start using a face serum. Ideally, anytime in your 20s, since collagen production starts decreasing already around 27 years old.
