Anti-ageing Chest Treatment
Second, only to the face, the chest is one of the most susceptible areas of the body to wrinkles caused by sun damage and natural ageing.
With age, the body slows its collagen production, which leads to crepey wrinkles and less elasticity in the skin. The cleavage region is especially vulnerable to wrinkling and sagging due to breasts pulling chest skin downward.
Luckily, thanks to recent advancements in technology, chest wrinkles are no longer impossible to treat.
Here at Facial Sculpting, Dr Nina uses Profhilo, the most advanced and effective treatment to target signs of aging on the chest area.
Profhilo skin treatments are non-surgical procedures frequently applied to the face, neck, chest or hands to remodel, revitalise and rejuvenate ageing skin. Invented in Italy, the treatment quickly gained traction within the UK in 2015 and has been popular ever since.
Profhilo is different from other dermal fillers despite being injectable. Unlike other treatments, it does not aim to mask the imperfections but instead gets to the core of remedying them by actively stimulating and encouraging your body to produce collagen and elastin.
Profhilo Treatment for Chest Wrinkles
Profhilo is an injectable anti-ageing treatment made from hyaluronic acid and free of any chemical cross-linking agents. It is used for tissue remodelling and the treatment of skin laxity.
Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance produced in our body and found in our skin, joints and connective tissue, binds moisture in the skin and aids collagen production. With age hyaluronic acid production slows and the skin looks duller and dehydrated, with fine lines and wrinkles forming.
The key to Profhilo’s popularity is a unique structure and balance of scientific properties, including a high cohesivity, that allow the product to flow freely through the subcutaneous tissue and the dermis, instantly boosting skin hydration in a way that traditional hyaluronic acid fillers cannot.
Its gel-like consistency distributes smoothly and evenly without the formation of any lumps. This means it can be used on areas which are difficult to treat with traditional fillers, such as the neck, the chest and the hands.
How Does Profhilo Work?
Profhilo acts by improving your skin tissue quality, rather than just filling in the wrinkles by adding volume to the skin like other traditional dermal fillers.
Profhilo works deep in the dermis for ongoing skin hydration, boosting your skin as well as lifting and tightening the sagging tissue in the neck and chest area. This helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and make the neck and chest appear smoother.
The procedure takes around 20 minutes. Profhilo is injected in a series of multiple injection points into your neck and chest, targeting the areas where the skin is the thinnest and where the most lines appear. It will then spread out under the skin over a few hours.
You might get a tiny bruise at one or two of the injection sites, which can be easily covered with concealer. Allow a couple of days downtime for all injection marks to subside. Avoid having any alcohol the day before your treatment as this will help to minimise the chance of bruising.
What Are Profhilo’s Results for Chest Wrinkles?
For vertical lines and deep wrinkles to the cleavage area, Profhilo will restore volume and smoothness, maximise firmness, and make skin tauter.
Immediately following the treatment there is a noticeable improvement in skin tone, hydration as well as firmness, and lines are minimised. Over the next four weeks, the Profhilo treatment works to boost elastin and collagen production, effectively remodelling the skin and giving it a plumper, smoother and firmer appearance.
Two treatments are recommended four weeks apart, with a follow-up appointment at week eight, to be repeated twice a year for optimal results.
Patients can expect increased firmness, elasticity, and overall improved quality of the skin, with the effects lasting up to six months (depending on the individual and on their skin’s aging process).
Profhilo Side Effects and Precautions
From a safety perspective, Profhilo is highly biocompatible because it is made from ultra-pure, ultra-natural Hyaluronic Acid, which is very well tolerated by the skin. It is also stabilised without the addition of chemical cross-linking agents, to reduce the risk of adverse reactions.
The only reported side effects are bruising and mild swelling at the injection sites. These generally disappear in a short period of time and are associated with the needle, not the product.
Women that are pregnant or breastfeeding should not have Profhilo injections.
The Profhilo treatment can work independently as a treatment on its own or in combination with other cosmetic treatments, namely because it is a natural product that is being injected.
Based on your needs and desired results, Dr Nina will be able to advise on the most appropriate treatment course during the initial consultation.
